#221: don't pay for your crimes

Have you ever broken the law before? Was is a major or minor infraction? Did you get away with it?

Feel free to answer in the comments or paste the code below into your own journal to answer the question.

As a child I was a bit of a thief, mostly from the supermarket. I stole, like, four ,kumquats or a candy bar, things I wanted to try that my mother wouldn't get for me. What makes this extra ridiculous is that I was outwardly a very goody-goody child; I had it impressed on me very strongly that as a Black kid I needed to be seen to be absolutely well behaved. For some reason, I interpreted this as "don't get caught."

I stopped doing this is my teens as I had enough pocket money to just buy little things.

(There's also my mother's cutlery and towel stealing ways, but that's another discussion.)

Littering, I think it would be called.

I high school, my friends would TP each others' houses on the regular. For those not in the know, this is where you string toilet tissue (bog rolls) all over a victim's house, trees/shrubs,and/or vehicle.

Parents hated it; our firnds thought it was a hoot.
