#11: bold of you to suggest I actually read my school books

What's a book you had to read for school that you ended up enjoying? Any books you hated? (question submitted by [personal profile] firewhispers)

I enjoyed 'Catch 22', and sort of enjoyed 'Scarlet Letter'. I HATED 'Billy Budd' and did not even finish it (it's really long). I still wrote a book report about what I did read, including a rant that Melville must have been paid by the word because he put in two long chapters about how to tie ropes the sailor way.

I remember really enjoying reading The Outsiders and Holes. I didn't like when we had to read plays. I despised Macbeth.

Read a lot of recommended literature, especially in my Advanced Higher English class. They were excellent books for analysing and exploring themes and discussion questions for studies.

Still love re-reading The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams and Hamlet by Shakespeare.
