I made a batch of stewed pears for dessert yesterday. These are made from Gieser Wildeman pears, a type of pears that can't be eaten raw. I stewed them for three hours, with some red wine and sugar and a stick of cinnamon. They smelled delicious and so did the whole house! It's something that we eat in fall and winter here in the Netherlands.
