That's rather US-centric!

Traditionally, we do not celebrate Hallowe'en in this country, although the holiday is recently being imported (which is a thing that I resent, but what can you do). We do have Sint Maarten which involves children going from door to door with colourful lanterns, singing songs, and getting fruit and candy in return.

My most memorable Sint Maarten experience was of course when it was my turn to be the kid whose paper lantarn caught on fire. Back in the day, we used candles, not LEDs. Much more fun, and we'd all been taught what to do if your lantern caught on fire: throw it on the floor and stomp out the fire. I can't recall anyone ever getting hurt because their lantern caught on fire. It's a safer time in some ways (less so in others). It's also a more boring time in some ways. Now get off my lawn!
